hado's folly

September, 2006

We bought a kayak at Robert's auction and we've been taking it out on the mill pond down in Halcottsville. The first time I went out I glided by a big turtle who pulled his head back as I passed. There's a blue heron that lives there too. When you get near him he flies off in a very dramatic fashion - flying low and slowly over the pond. There's a blurry picture of this below.

The pond has lots of greenery to tootle around in.

These pictures were taken over Labor Day weekend - really overcast. Pretty on the pond, though.

Cool vegetation.

The kayak is nice and wide - no chance of tipping. Especially on a placid pond.

The lone heron. Where's his/her mate?

Here he/she hightails it for the other end of the pond.
